I've Got The Giggles

Adria recently discovered that Thomas thinks the words граматика and пратика (the Russian words for 'grammar' and 'practice') are the funniest things that he has ever experienced.

Alaska News

Every so often I will read Adria an article from the Anchorage Daily News and Adria will say something along the lines of "You won't read an article like that in The Oregonian." The following are some of the more memorable articles of this sort:

  • The story of Buzzwinkle J. Moose (right), who stumbled around downtown Anchorage after eating some fermented crab apples and got tangled in some Christmas lights.

  • There was a scare when a rumor circulated that production of Pilot Bread was going to be stopped. Now you may be asking yourself what is Pilot Bread; Pilot Bread simply put is hardtack, and is quite popular in the Alaskan Bush.

  • In what is being called the Great Manure Caper of 2007, a rouge truck driver has been dumping loads of manure on a vacant lot about 2 miles from our home. This unknown 'poopetrator' has apparently dumped 100 tons of manure on this lot and may be a serial 'poopetrator' as there have been reports of other mysterious dumpings around town as well.

  • This article doesn't have the same sense of whimsy as the others as it shows why 'trunk-or-treats' seem of have become more popular in recent years and it caused Adria to say "Thomas is never going trick-or-treating". Anyways, two women face more than 180 years each in prison for stealing the Halloween candy from a group of children at gunpoint. Also while waiting for her first appearance in court for these charges, one of the accused turned to the assembled media and "directed a string of invectives at the media, at one point holding up her middle finger and saying, 'Trick-or-treat this.'"

Update: Adria also enjoyed this article about a pack of wolves that is killing dogs around the outskirts of Fairbanks. Some residents are suggesting that they take the same steps the Danville, PA police took with some runaway cows.
